Powders vs. Liquids

How’s the state of things? (I’m great thanks).

Supplemented foods come in one of two states. Solids (often powders) or liquids. Powdered supplemented foods offer several advantages over their liquid counterparts.

Firstly, they tend to have a longer shelf life. The goodies in there that do all the helpful stuff, like vitamins and minerals, last longer in a solid form. That means you’re guaranteed to get the most punch out of it, especially if it’s been in the cupboard for a while.

Secondly, they allow versatility in how it’s prepared. Add a little bit of the lemon-limeade to an iced green tea for zest or if you’re brave enough sprinkle it on ice cream. I wonder if you can bake with it…? If you try it let us know how that goes. Maybe you’ve got some other ideas to share with us too.

Lastly, it’s cheaper! One serving is ~$0.62 cents*. That’s heaps cheaper than a can from the servo, and 100 servings fit in the about the same amount of space as that can of liquid drink. That means you’re not paying for all that bulky water being shipped around. It’s just the tasty bits.

*Including the average cost of water, which is usually about $0.002 for one litre here in NZ.
